About GB Basketball

Anti-Doping

The BBF is committed to drug-free sport and through the home country governing bodies of England, Scotland and Wales, and in agreement with UK Sport, has agreed to comply with the provisions of the World Anti-Doping Code.

It is the individual responsibility of each player to ensure he/she is familiar with, and to comply with, all the applicable provisions of the Home Country governing body rules with regard to anti-doping, and the UK National Anti-Doping Policy and the World Anti-Doping Code.

To be able to say with pride 'It's 100% me', athletes must follow the principle of strict liability. Strict liability means athletes are solely responsible for any banned substance that is found in their system, regardless of how it got there or whether there was an intention to cheat or not.

BBF have collaborated with Basketball England on Anti-Doping and more detail is available at https://www.basketballengland.co.uk/about-be/policies/anti-doping

The BBF and UK Sport are available to provide help and guidance on any aspect of the Anti-Doping Rules, and information is available at: http://www.ukad.org.uk/resources/document/uk-anti-doping-rules.
