Dang Akodo stars as GB U20 Men extend perfect start
Great Britain extended their perfect start at FIBA U20 European Championship Division B to three games with a 72-58 victory against Kosovo in Chalkida, Greece on Sunday.
Captain Jules Dang Akodo led by example once more with another terrific all-round display, which included 15 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.
Pharraoh Gordon also stepped up in a big way, scoring 17 points in 25 minutes of play.
The win strengthens GB's standing in Group C, with the top two of six teams advancing to the quarter-finals.
Head coach Andreas Kapoulas said: "It was just a matter of being more consistent in our performance.
"We did good things, created good shots inside and out and made consecutive defensive stops. We need to build that consistency.
"Overall what matters at this moment is the win. We talked about having three wins going into the rest day. We have the three wins and the focus now is getting ready for the big game against the Netherlands on Tuesday.
"Jules [Dang Akodo] is our team leader, our captain and he has been showing great leadership on and off the court to make sure the guys are ready."
After a cagey opening period, Kapoulas' side found their feet when quick-fire three pointers from Fraser Malcolm and Dang Akodo sparked an 8-2 run to open up the lead.
In the second half Gordon's efficient scoring, along with 22 fast-break points as a team, allowed the Brits to maintain their advantage and see out an important triumph.
Great Britain are next in action against Netherlands at 1430 BST on Tuesday.
