Standard Life GB guard Kyle Johnson has signed a contract which will keep him at Italian Serie A side Cremona until the end of the season.
Kyle Johnson confirms signing with Cremona
The 2012 Olympian had been on a short term deal with Ferentino as injury cover, but last week after 5 games in which he averaged 12.4 points and 4.4 rebounds, Johnson was waived, leaving him a free agent.
That allowed Cremona to step in and Johnson could make his debut for his new side on Boxing Day against Olimpia Milan. Serie A will hold few surprises for the 24 year-old who spent last season there with SS Sutor Montegranaro.
Johnson who was part of Joe Prunty;s EuroBasket squad last season, flew out to Italy on Monday and told gbbasketball.com, "I'm happy I found a contract for the remainder of the season, back in Italy's top league. I look forward to helping Cremona reach their season goals.
National Teams Director Warwick Cann said, "It's good for Standard Life GB when our players are being recognised and progressing upwards to the highest leagues in the world. Italy's Serie A will be a good stepping stone for Kyle to continue to grow his game skills and experience."
