International Career: 

A long-standing member of the Great Britain squad, Eric made his debut in a friendly against Finland in 2006 – the very first game of the revived GB programme - and has been a regular ever since. His best game came at EuroBasket 2011 when he had a career-high 7 rebounds and 4 points in 25 minutes against Turkey, and he was a key reserve at the 2012 Olympic Games.

Beginning his career in basketball at Brixton TopCats in London, Boateng moved to the USA and won a scholarship to Duke University helping the team to a 32-4 record, the ACC Tournament title and a place in the NCAA Sweet 16 round. He transferred for his sophomore season to Arizona State University. In his senior year, Eric had a career-best 24 points against Stanford when he matched the Pac-10 Conference record for field goal percentage in a single game, going 11-of-11 from the field.

His professional debut came in a pre-season stint with the NBA’s Denver Nuggets in 2010 where he made five appearances, averaging 1.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. He spent his rookie season in the NBA D-League, split between the Idaho Stampede and Austin Toros. For 2011-12, Eric joined Greek A1 club Peristeri but was sidelined mid-season with a calf injury. He joined the Braunschweig-based New Yorker Phantoms of the German BBL League in 2012.

Was a member of the International team at the annual McDonald’s High School Game in 2005 after spending three years at St. Andrew's School in Delaware, USA.

Personal:

Grew up playing football in London and had never played basketball until, at the age of 14, he was stopped in the street and invited to try the sport at Brixton by the then-presenter of the BBC’s basketball coverage, Freddie Morrison. Lists former Topcats club-mates Marcus Knight and Brandon Donovan as biggest playing influence. Supports Arsenal. Graduated from Arizona State with a degree in Global Studies.

Trivia:

Eric played for Team USA head coach Mike Krzyzewski for one year at Duke University.
