A 5’11” forward who was born in Denver, in the United States, Hoffman is one of a number of GB players who qualifies for the team through parentage and made her competitive debut for the team in the 2008 European Championship campaign.

Hoffman enjoyed a strong four-year career at Division Two college Adams State in Colorado, originally joining on a basketball and track/cross-country scholarship and going on to set a school record for career points, before graduating in 2005 and starting her professional career in Europe.

The 2005-06 season saw Hoffman in Iceland, where she averaged over 21 points a game in helping Breidablik reach the league’s semi-finals and earning selection to the Icelandic All Star Game. The following season saw her heading to Britain where she starred for the Rhondda Rebels team that took part in the 2006-07 EuroCup and finished as regular season and play-off runners-up.

The following season, Hoffman was in mainland Europe, in the second division of the strong Spanish league, where she played for Alavargomez and showed the sort of form that made her an obvious call-up for Mark Clark’s GB squad in the summer of 2008. Having made her GB debut against Norway in a friendly during the 2006 season, Hoffman had her first taste of Eurobasket when she made her competitive debut in the A Division game against the Ukraine in August 2008.

Back in Britain for the 2008-09 campaign, Hoffman carried her strong international form into the EBL where she averaged 20.1 points and 9.4 rebounds a game for the UWIC Archers. Re-signed with the Welsh club, her start to her 2009-10 season was delayed by injury.

Damian Jennings says: “Meagan must be the most tenacious player on the GB team. She spends more time on the floor, battling for loose balls, then anyone I have ever seen. She is the aggressor on the team, someone who lives for the physicality of the defensive game. It’s a very under-appreciated role on any team, because it is not expressed in terms of statistics, but Meagan fills that role brilliantly for us.”
