International Career:

McKay made her GB debut against the Netherlands in 2008 and impacted as a strong presence in the middle. In 2009, she featured prominently, scoring a career-best 20 points against Bosnia and Herzegovina. She sat out the 2010 and 2011 international campaigns due to injury.

Club career:

Barking Abbey Leopards (2011- ), Cadi la Seu D’urgell Sedis, Spain (2009-10), Navarra, Spain (2008-9), Cadi la Seu D’urgell Sedis, (2007-8), Indiana University, USA (2003-7)

Sarah was recruited to Indiana where she was the tallest ever player at the university. While there, she averaged 6.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, and was named Third-Team All-Big 10 in 2007.

After graduation, she earned a training camp invite to the WNBA’s Seattle Storm but eventually joined Spanish League club Cadi la Seu D’urgell for the 2007-8 campaign. She remained in the country for the two subsequent seasons but was forced to sit out 2010-11 due to injury. She resumed her career in 2011 in the EBL with Barking Abbey, averaging a double-double in points and rebounds over the first half of the season.

Personal:

Sarah’s father Mike McKay played in the British Basketball League for Sunderland, as well as representing England during his career. Her brother Chris played collegiately at the University of Montana while she shares family ties with Paul and Mark Elderkin, who currently play in the BBL for Durham Wildcats. 

Trivia:

Has undergone seven knee surgeries, all but one on her left knee.
