Jamie Smith - Assistant Coach & Head Performance Analyst

Jamie Smith has been involved with Great Britain Basketball since 2011 and has worked with both the senior men's and senior women's teams as an assistant coach and performance analyst. During that time, Smith has participated in three EuroBasket championships including a 9th place finish with the senior women in 2013 - The highest ever final ranking for a senior GB team. Smith's primary responsibilities include player development, advance scouting, video and statistical analysis of upcoming opponents, practice analysis, match analysis, and the production of strategic game plans and scouting reports.

Outside of the international season, Smith coaches in the United States and was most recently the director of basketball operations & analytics at the University of Hawaii. Smith's four seasons at Hawaii (2012-2016) culminated in 2015-16 with the best season in program history. The Rainbow Warriors won the Big West regular season and tournament championships, captured their first ever win in the NCAA tournament to advance to the round of 32, and finished with a 28-6 record - the most wins in program history.

In 2011-12 Smith served as assistant video coordinator for the Boston Celtics under Doc Rivers. In this role, Smith was responsible for all the team's video based scouting needs. The Celtics claimed their fifth consecutive Atlantic Division title and advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals. He also served as an assistant coach for the Celtics' NBA Summer League team in 2012 working under Tyronn Lue. Smith's stint with the Celtics was his second with an NBA team after working with the Cleveland Cavaliers in a similar capacity. Upon joining the Cavs in 2010, he became the first-ever British national named to an NBA coaching staff. At Cleveland, Smith worked alongside Great Britain coaches Joe Prunty and Kenny Graves.

Smith has apprenticed under some of the game's finest head coaches including Billy Donovan while a graduate assistant at the University of Florida, and Roy Williams while a team manager at the University of North Carolina. Smith has also served as the director of basketball operations at the College of William & Mary, assistant coach at Montreat College, and student assistant coach at the College of Southern Idaho. He began his coaching career as the head coach of Andover College in Hampshire.

Smith graduated with highest distinction from the University of North Carolina with a double major in exercise & sports science and psychology in 2006. He earned his Master of Science in Applied Physiology & Kinesiology from the University of Florida in 2011. Smith holds Level 5 accreditation as an applied performance analyst from the International Society of Performance Analysis in Sport.
